How are fat injections performed?
Fat injections are typically a quick procedure. Pain is minimal because anesthesia is administered to the area where fat will be removed and to the areas where fat will be reintroduced. Your fat is withdrawn from any donor area you choose utilizing a technique similar to that used during liposuction. The fat is then treated with your own stem cells to stimulate the acceptance and growth of the fat in the donor area such as the breasts. These areas are filled with your fat to your desired size. The breast can usually increase two or more cup sizes. The buttock can be increased to the size that is pleasing to the individual patient.
Facial rejuvenation is now easily accomplished by transferring your fat since an aging face is caused by loss of fat. Face lifts are a thing of the past.
Patients who undergo fat injections can return to their normal daily routines soon after treatment, usually 3-4 days. Bruising, swelling or redness in both the donor and injected areas are minimal and expected. The procedure does not interfere with sensations as might occur with implants. Unlike placement of implants, there are no painful exercises to perform after the procedure. With fat transfer, there are no implants that can rupture, crinkle, harden or ever need to be removed or replaced. Implants are heavy and can cause the skin to sag with time. Fat is very light and if placed in water it floats! The recovery is virtually painless and many of my patients need only take Tylenol for a few days.
